About This Service

What Is Sports Massage Therapy?

Sports massage therapy is a results-driven approach to treating the body that goes far beyond what most people think of as “massage.” It combines multiple therapeutic modalities — deep tissue work, myofascial release, cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), lymphatic drainage, and hot stones — customized to each client based on assessment.

Whether you’re a competitive athlete looking to recover faster between training sessions, a weekend warrior dealing with nagging pain, or someone whose active lifestyle is taking a toll on their body, sports massage therapy addresses the root cause — not just the symptoms. It’s used for both targeted problem-solving and ongoing maintenance.

Every session starts with assessment and palpation. Justin evaluates your posture, movement patterns, and areas of concern before choosing which combination of modalities will produce the best result. No two sessions are the same because no two bodies are the same.

Treatment Modalities

Tools in the Toolbox

Justin draws from multiple modalities in every session, selecting the right techniques based on what your body needs.

Deep Tissue Massage

Sustained pressure targeting deep muscle layers to break up adhesions, knots, and chronic tension patterns.

Myofascial Release

Gentle, sustained pressure on the connective tissue to release restrictions that cause pain and limit range of motion.

Cupping Therapy

Negative pressure cups that lift tissue, increase blood flow, and accelerate recovery in targeted areas.

IASTM (Blading)

Precision instruments that break up scar tissue and fascial adhesions that manual pressure alone can’t reach.

Lymphatic Drainage

Light, rhythmic techniques that stimulate the lymphatic system to reduce swelling, flush toxins, and speed recovery.

Hot Stone Therapy

Heated basalt stones that penetrate deep into muscle tissue, relaxing tension and increasing circulation for enhanced treatment.

Who It’s For

Sports Massage Is For You If…

Whether you compete professionally or just live an active life, sports massage therapy can make a measurable difference.

Competitive Athletes

Pro, college, and amateur athletes looking to recover faster, prevent injury, and optimize performance between training and competition.

Weekend Warriors

Runners, CrossFitters, hikers, gym regulars, and recreational athletes who push their bodies and need proper recovery.

Post-Workout Recovery

Anyone looking to reduce soreness, flush lactic acid, and get back to training faster after intense workouts or competition.

Chronic Pain & Tension

Back pain, neck stiffness, shoulder tension, sciatica, and other persistent issues that haven’t responded to basic treatment.

Injury Recovery

Strains, sprains, post-surgery rehabilitation, and overuse injuries that need targeted manual therapy to heal properly.

Active Lifestyles

From busy parents to active seniors — anyone whose body takes a beating from daily life and wants to feel and move better.

Your Session

What to Expect

Every session is customized. Here’s the general flow from start to finish.

01

Assessment & Palpation

Justin evaluates your posture, range of motion, movement patterns, and areas of concern. Through hands-on palpation he maps where the tension, adhesions, and restrictions are — so the entire session targets your actual problem, not a best guess.

02

Multi-Modality Treatment

Based on assessment, Justin selects the right combination of techniques — deep tissue, myofascial release, cupping, IASTM, lymphatic drainage, or hot stones. The approach adapts in real-time as tissue responds throughout the session.

03

Sport-Specific Focus

For athletes, Justin understands the specific demands of your sport. A runner’s treatment looks different from a golfer’s. A pre-competition session looks different from a post-game recovery session. Every detail is tailored to your activity and goals.

04

Aftercare & Game Plan

After your session, Justin provides specific recovery guidance — stretching, hydration, what to avoid, and when to come back. If movement dysfunction is contributing to your issue, he may recommend movement coaching to address the root cause.

Common Questions

Sports Massage FAQ

Sports massage therapy is a specialized form of massage designed for athletes and active individuals. It combines multiple modalities — deep tissue, myofascial release, cupping, IASTM, and lymphatic drainage — to address the physical demands of training and competition. Unlike relaxation massage, every session is assessment-based and results-driven.

Regular massage focuses primarily on relaxation using light to moderate pressure. Sports massage is therapeutic and results-driven — Justin evaluates your posture, movement, and areas of concern before every session, then uses whichever combination of techniques will produce the best outcome. It’s targeted treatment, not a spa experience.

Both serve different purposes. Pre-event massage warms up muscles, increases circulation, and prepares your body for peak performance. Post-event massage focuses on recovery — flushing lactic acid, reducing inflammation, and treating any strain from competition. Many serious athletes use both. Justin can recommend the right approach for your sport and schedule.

For athletes in active training, weekly or bi-weekly sessions produce the best results for recovery and injury prevention. During competition season, more frequent sessions may help. For recreational athletes, bi-weekly to monthly maintenance keeps the body performing well. Justin will recommend a schedule based on your activity level and goals.

Yes. All sessions are mobile and in-home. Justin brings everything — professional massage table, linens, oils, cupping equipment, and IASTM tools — directly to your home, gym, or preferred location throughout Inland Empire and Orange County. No travel fees within the service area.

Justin has competed in soccer, basketball, tennis, track & field, kickboxing, golf, and triathlons, and has treated athletes across virtually every sport.
